The Indiana Prevention Resource Center at Indiana University is a statewide clearinghouse for prevention, technical assistance, and information about alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs for the State of Indiana. It is Indiana's officially designated RADAR Network (Regional Alcohol and Drug Awareness Resource Network) State Center.
The Indiana Prevention Resource Center is operated by the Department of Applied Health Science, in the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Indiana University - Bloomington. It is affiliated with the Indiana University Institute for Drug Abuse Prevention. It is funded, in part, by a contract with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration - Division of Mental Health.
The Indiana Prevention Resource Center (IPRC) was established in 1987 to assist Indiana-based prevention programs improve the quality of their services. Its primary target audience is the community of prevention professionals and volunteers, and government officials who are providing or monitoring delivery of prevention programs to Indiana residents. It was not established to provide direct prevention services to the general public, but to provide technical assistance and support to those who do. Its primary mission is to support those programs by providing information, materials, consultation, and a wide range of high-level technical assistance. Secondarily, as Indiana's designated RADAR Network (Regional Alcohol and Drug Awareness Resource Network) State Center, it provides alcohol, tobacco, and other drug information, government publications, and referral services to all Indiana residents.
